Thank you for considering becoming a Patriot Wrestling Coach! Wrestling experience is not necessary to become a Coach. Coaching is not limited to instruction. To be a coach is to be a positive influence in the lives of our youth. Simply being present can help build the confidence of our wrestlers to become better versions of themselves. If you do not have wrestling experience, this is great opportunity to learn the sport along side your wrestler!

The safety of our wrestlers is our top priority. The State of Ohio, USA Wrestling, and the Archdiocese of Cincinnati have provided resources to help maintain the safety of our participants. We understand that this is an investment, but we appreciate you taking the steps to ensure the safety and integrity of the Patriot Wrestling Club.

Requirements to become a Coach:

1. Concussion Course Requirement - Ohio House Bill 143 concussion course. The State of Ohio enacted House Bill 143. That means, by State Law, that all coaches now have to complete a "Concussion Course". The course takes about 30 minutes. Here is what coaches need to do: 
   • Go to www.nfhslearn.com 
   • Select: Concussion Courses, then select: Concussion in Sports
   • View course > at top, pick State: Ohio > Order Course (it is free)
   • Register if it is your first time. If not your first time, login or use “Forgot your password” if needed.
   • Follow the order process and prompts to get to and take the course.
   • Complete the course and save a copy of your certificate. (Certificate is good for 3 years.)
   • Email a copy of your certificate to [email protected].
2. Lindsay’s Law (Sudden Cardiac Arrest)- This is a State Law as of August 1, 2017. All parents and coaches are required to fulfill an annual requirement on sudden cardiac arrest. All coaches and parents need to watch an 18 minute video, view online information and sign a form. There is no money required for this. It is free.

     • Sign the Lindsay's Law Signature Form
     • Scan and send a copy of the signed form to [email protected] or bring signed physical copy to parent meeting or first practice and give to Greg Terbay.

   • Must be current on Safe Parish training.
     • Complete any due training.
   • If you are already registered under Safe Parish
     • Under "My Account" select the Edit Orgs/Roles
       
     • If Carroll High School -- Dayton is not listed as one of you one of your organizations, add it.
       • There will be an Add Organization button on the page, probably under your primary organization. Click the button to add a new organization.
       • Select CARROLL HIGH SCHOOL -- DAYTON as the organization
       • Select Volunteer and Coach Volunteer as the role, or multiple roles if you already volunteer for Carroll.
       • Submit the changes by clicking the Submit button at the bottom of the page.
   • More information coming on how to become Safe Parish certified if you do not already have a Safe Parish certification.
3. USA Wrestling Limited Leader Membership - https://www.usawmembership.com
   • Limited Leader Membership is the minimum tier membership offered by USA Wrestling and is required for mat access at meets and tournaments.

     • A profile is *not* the same as account. An account may manage multiple profiles for leaders, wrestlers, and/or clubs.

   • Complete Safe Sport Certification - https://www.usawmembership.com/help/category/3/question/11
     • Every 3 years the full course is required.
     • Between full course years, much shorter refresher courses are required instead.

     • Can be done once Safe Sport Certification and Background Check are complete.
     • Photo may be required for all IDs now, so have a picture available for upload.
4. Coach's Code of Conduct
   • Read and sign the Patriot Wrestling Club Coach's Code of Conduct and bring to parent meeting or first practice.
