💪 Become a Patriot Wrestling Coach

Thank you for considering becoming a coach at Patriot Wrestling Club! You don’t need wrestling experience to make an impact — just a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a passion for supporting kids. Coaching is more than teaching technique — it’s about being present, encouraging growth, and helping young athletes become the best versions of themselves.

If you're new to the sport, this is a great opportunity to learn wrestling alongside your child. Whether you're instructing, assisting, or simply showing up — your presence matters.

The safety of our wrestlers is our top priority. The State of Ohio, USA Wrestling, and the Archdiocese of Cincinnati have clear guidelines for coaching youth. While the process requires some time and attention, we deeply appreciate your commitment to creating a safe and trustworthy environment.

📋 Coaching Requirements

1. Concussion Training – Ohio House Bill 143
   Complete the free Concussion in Sports course (30 min) at NFHS Learn.
   • Select “Concussion in Sports” and choose Ohio as your state.
   • Register or log in to complete the course.
   • Save and email your certificate to [email protected].
2. Lindsay’s Law – Sudden Cardiac Arrest
   A free, annual state-mandated requirement.
   • Visit: ODH Lindsay’s Law
   • Watch the 18-minute video.
   • Review the Parent/Guardian Handout.
   • Sign the Signature Form.
   • Submit it by email or bring to the parent meeting/first practice.
3. Safe Parish Certification (Safe Environment Portal)
   • Ensure your training is current (renew as needed).
   • If not registered, use code protectcincy to join and complete certification.
   • Log into your account and under “My Account” ➜ Edit Orgs/Roles ➜ Add “Carroll High School – Dayton.”
   • Select role: Volunteer or Coach Volunteer.
4. USA Wrestling Limited Leader Membership – Required for mat access at meets
   Start here: usawmembership.com
   • Create an account and personal profile.
   • Request a background check.
   • Complete SafeSport certification (every 3 years, with annual refreshers).
   • Purchase the Limited Leader Membership after completing requirements.
   • A headshot may be required — be prepared to upload one.
5. Coach’s Code of Conduct
   Download, sign, and return the form at the parent meeting or first practice.
