🚀 Take the Next Step: Tournaments & Higher-Level Competition
The Miami Valley Kids Wrestling Association (MVKWA) — founded by Mark Gerhard — is one of the largest youth wrestling leagues in the country. As the second-largest USA Wrestling–affiliated league in the nation, MVKWA includes over 3,000 wrestlers across 80+ clubs and hosts weekend meets throughout the season.
MVKWA meets are a fantastic starting point for wrestlers of all ages and experience levels. But for those seeking to rise to tougher competition and test themselves further, we encourage and support participation in external tournaments that offer greater challenges and opportunities for growth.
🎯 Where to Compete Beyond MVKWA
Two standout organizations that host competitive and well-organized tournaments across Ohio are:
Both offer district qualifying tournaments that lead to state championship events — ideal for wrestlers ready to compete at the next level. These events are generally geared toward wrestlers with experience beyond regular practices. However, some divisions, including novice divisions, are available for those with under 3 years of experience who haven’t yet qualified for a state tournament.

🌍 Beyond Folkstyle: Freestyle & Greco-Roman
Once the Folkstyle season ends, wrestling continues with Freestyle and Greco-Roman
These styles help athletes round out their skills, gain new experiences, and stay sharp in the off-season — all while having fun and learning something new.
