🤼 Mini-Meets: Fast-Paced, Fair & Fun
Our MVKWA Mini-Meets offer young wrestlers an exciting way to gain match experience in a low-pressure, well-structured environment. These meets typically follow a 4-wrestler round-robin format, giving every athlete three quality matches in a single day.
📋 Matchmaking with Purpose
Leading up to each event, coaches submit detailed rosters including age, weight, experience level, and win/loss records for every wrestler. On meet day, team representatives huddle before wrestling begins to carefully review all groupings.
Any mismatches in age, size, or skill level are addressed on the spot — because safety and fair competition are always our top priorities.
🕑 Two Sessions Per Meet
Each mini-meet is split into two sessions, each running approximately 2.5 hours:
- Session 1: Younger or less experienced wrestlers
- Session 2: Older or more advanced wrestlers
Cutoffs vary by meet, so a wrestler might compete in a different session from week to week. Session assignments will be shared with families ahead of time via the Stack Team app.
🔥 Match Format
- Number of Matches: Each wrestler competes in 3 matches
- Match Length: Three 1-minute periods per match
- Coaching Support: A coach will be present for every wrestler at every match
🎉 Recognition & Rewards
When a wrestler finishes all their matches for the day, they’re free to head out. But the celebration doesn’t stop there — at the following week’s practice, every wrestler is recognized and awarded a ribbon for their effort and sportsmanship.
Mini-Meets are a cornerstone of our program — where experience is built, confidence grows, and every wrestler gets a chance to shine.
